Isaac Ruto Makes New Announcement on His Next Move
Outgoing Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto on Monday stated that he would announce his next political move on Tuesday after handing power to Dr Joyce Laboso who beat him in the August 8 polls.
Speaking during a swearing-in briefing in Bomet, Ruto noted that Kenyans will know his next cause of action after the swearing in of Dr Laboso.
"I will announce my next cause of action once the governor-elect is sworn in. I can confirm that I will be present to hand over and thereafter tell Kenyans where I will be heading to," Ruto stated.
He congratulated the incoming governor and urged her to carry on with what the previous administration had begun.
"From now we are one as residents of Bomet; the election is behind us. We should now hold hands and work towards building a greater Bomet. The various pre-election camps should put the difference a side and work together.
"For nearly three months due to the political campaigns, services had temporarily stopped but we expect everything to resume after Tuesday," he stated.
Regarding the swearing-in ceremony, he asked the residents to remain calm and desist from any acts of violence or intolerance.
"I do not expect any heckling during the swearing-in ceremony, people should be tolerant so that the event can end peacefully and leaders should avoid inflammatory speeches," the former governor indicated.
The outgoing governor assured all county employees that they would not be victimised by the new regime as they were protected by the Constitution.
He explained that the change of guard did not mean that the workers were not wanted, adding that all workers should report to their workstations without fear.
"No one among the county staff should fear anything, they are legally employed. The rumours in the streets are baseless and should be ignored," he added
The National Super Alliance co-principal strongly dismissed claims that he had been hospitalised after losing the elections stating that he was well and very strong.
Dr Laboso on her part stated that she was ready to assume her duties as Bomet Governor and promised to hit the ground running immediately after the ceremony.
"I will be the first to report to work on Wednesday and work will start immediately… county staff should brace for more work in the coming days and they must deliver," she stated.
She will be sworn in on Tuesday at the Bomet Green stadium in a ceremony that is set to be attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
